I can help you discover Shakespeare's London at first hand, including hidden historical gems that you will not find in guide books. I have years of experience from researching the period and sharing the wonders of London's history with visitors and locals alike.
We will begin at Barbican station and walk towards Shakespeare's former lodgings on the northern fringes of the City. We will see some of the most important buildings and localities of the city that the playwright inhabited, including places where he lived and worked.
Eventually we will make our way over to Blackfriars, the site of the indoor playhouse where Shakespeare's late plays were performed, and where he purchased a property in 1613.
As a literary scholar and historian, I can show you how the buildings, spaces and people of London found their way into Shakespeare's famous works and shaped his plays. This tour will give you a deeper understanding of Shakespeare, his works, and the world around him at the start of the seventeenth century.

I had a great time on the tour with Alexander, he was very knowledgeable about London’s history especially during Shakespeare’s time and it was really interesting to see and hear about how much things have changed throughout the years in this city as well as learn about the lives of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. It’s a rare opportunity to hear about them while walking on the same streets that they once lived. Also, Alex was very friendly, waited for me even though I came a bit late, and helped me to get some good pictures around London as well! Definitely recommend.

Alexander was able to seamlessly combine the history of Shakespeare and London into a fascinating walking tour. He is extremely knowledgeable and had maps and other photos to help enrich the experience. This is one of the best walking tours I’ve been on and I highly recommend any one interested in Shakespeare OR London to join the tour. Well worth the price!

I had a great walk with Alexander ; it was a combination of visiting sites that you would never be able to find yourself, and hearing a wealth of stories and information about Shakespeare. And you can ask any questions you have too as Alexander is an expert in his field!
It was an amazing experience to walk the footprints of Shakespeare. Alexander has chosen the most interesting bits and pieces about Shakespeare. You wouldn’t be able to get there on your own, hence it’s a great opportunity to know more about London and Shakespeare. Highly recommend!
Alexander took us around the City of London and immersed us in the world of Shakespeare and his London. We had the geographical location, the commentary and the pictures on the tablet. T'was wondrous! We who attended came away with a firmer grasp on this period of history and of the changes that have happened in London since. We had been to the Globe a day before, and this tour was a perfect complement. Alexander was also very open to answering all questions, and basically crafting us "our" tour, starting from changing the times to accommodate our needs.
